So after a bajillion dollars and a hundred doctor visits I have found out that I have no major problems with me praise the Lord!

I found out that I have tendinitis in my shoulder that has significantly weakens my shoulder but after a few weeks of physical therapy maybe I can lift again. I also found I have a brain. Surprise surprise. I don’t have any major diseases just a condition called essential tremors. But God is good and I am not dead in my health

Doctor visits

So the last week has been filled with doctor visits. I’ve been to four doctors and had two MRIs and taken my little brother to the ER…. All in the last week. This week has been crazy busy and semi stressful on my mom trying to get to all her appointments and then to mine and my brothers. Plus the fact that she has had to see the bills rack up.

I am so thankful for my mom who stills pays for my doctor bills and many other things. As I try and establish my independence she has been so helpful in allowing me to stay out of debt with it all. I am so very grateful for all she has sacrificed for me and given me.

If you have a great mom explain why your mom is so great.

So this summer as I was traveling about all the diferent camps, we were blessed with the opportrunity to worship God at least once a day! It was absolutely incredible, especially since worship is such a huge part of my walk with God and very important to me. Well at most camps we were able to sing different Phil Wickham songs. His music is great and lyrically he is phenomenal!!!

So this summer has been incredible!! I have been privileged without the opportunity to “work” for my school getting a scholarship. I have been blessed being able to go from camp to camp all over Oregon, Idaho, and Washington. My team is two girls and one other guy and we drive from camp to camp each week. It has been challenging at times and lots of fun! Through the whole thing God has been able to work in the lives of so many kids and teens! It has been such an experience to see so many people give their lives to Christ or back to him.

We are on the road from Idaho back to Oregon right now for our last camp. It is bittersweet. I miss my family and friends back home, but I love the life I have been able to live these past 6 weeks. It has been such an incredible time of growth for me. Each day I get to not only delve into the Word myself, but get to learn from an incredible speaker. Each week is a different sermon topic and each week God continues to make them personal to me and my life.

This summer he has spoken to me about how I need to have faith that is in action. I wrote a workshop to teach kids about not being afraid to stand for Christ and be the salt of the earth as Jesus calls us to in Mark 9:50. Each time I teach it I speak to myself. And then the speakers have challenged me to live my faith out in my actions. One speaker talked to us about having a current word and for me mine is “faith in action” from James 2:17 where James says, “faith without works is dead.” it hit me how much in my life I use the one liners that hurt or the sarcasm that goes too far. Is that really how God wants me to be acting? No, I don’t think so.

God has done some incredible things this summer and I am eternally grateful for them!

Busy Life

So this whole post a week thing already failed! Haha… It’s ok though. Life has been pretty busy. School has just about taken over my life! But I’ve still been able to set my time aside for my devotions.
It’s been good. Travis, Aaron, and I have been able to keep eachother accountable in our daily reading. Kass and Kota have done well too. It has just been hard with their move.
I won’t lie. It’s not easy getting up before I really need to so I can spend time with God, but it has been such a blessing! There is no way that I can complete this semester on my own strength. God has continued to strengthen me and carry me. It’s been good because I have continued to see myself grow up spiritually and mentally. God is good an I am forever greatful for the work he continues to do in me.

New Year

So, this year I am going to try and get on this thing more often. It has been WAY to long since I posted something. Im going to try for a post a week this year, but we will see.

This semester at school will test that. I am taking 19 credits, working part time, coaching jr high basketball, and spending time in a classroom for my junior practicum. The semester will test me, but I know after it I will be able to say I did it and survived.

Some new things for the new year is to be in the word almost everyday, if not every day. As a band, we decided to keep each other accountable to it. We want to make sure our hearts are right with God, if we are to be leading people with our music. So far it has been pretty good. Anyway, here is post #1 for the year, I’m going to work on using it more often.

So I know it’s been awhile, but in the last week I keep being shown by different people, teachings, and devotions that I need to be in the word more and I feel it calls for a new post.

It all started last week when we were at our “Spartan Meeting.” It is a group of guys from my church and one of our pastors. We are made delicious food by our “Spartan Mom” and we eat and are given a challenging lesson. Seeing as I am at school I am not able to attend very often, but I was able to make this one thank goodness. Anyway, we were talking about some stuff and the topic of our band came up and how we are excited to see how and where God is taking us. Kelly, our Spartan mom made a very good comment about how if we want to be up on stage leading people in music that worships God, then we need to do a spiritual check. We need to have our walks right with God, before we can lead anybody else in theirs and also we need to be strong in our faith so when the devil attacks us we can stand strong. I thought this was really good and I thought it was a good lesson.

A few days later when we were having a band meeting with a good friend of the band (and uncle ;D) as we were talking with him about the future plans with the band, he said pretty much the same thing Kelly did, that we need to make sure our walk with God is strong before we are doing “big” things. Twice in a week is pretty good and I would think it was something God was trying to tell me…

…then came service on Sunday morning out of John chapter 4 on the woman at the well. Our pastor talked about how the lady wanted the living water that Jesus was offering her so that she never had to be thirsty. Ron, our pastor, talked about how we should thirst to have more of God. I again was at a loss for words. God was definitely trying to tell me something. Then he talked about how in verse 28 of chapter 4 ” The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village…” She left her vessel for carrying water, but the point he made was that the vessel that needed filled was not the jar, but her. She was the vessel. He talked about how we need to leave our old habits and things behind if we want to start anew. So three times this week God has said something to the point of needing to be in the word and thirsting for it…

…most would say three times is the charm, but not for me. As I sat down to “get back into the word” ( i had been doing a devotional book, but not really digging into the scriptures) I pulled out a journal that has a reading track in it and then has some things for you to journal after. I pulled it out and it said to read from Psalm 42. The first two verses say this, “As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God. When can I go and stand before him?” NO WAY!!! This is exactly what I keep being told, “Josh you need to long for me, I want you to thirst for me, and the only way to quench that is by reading my word.”

I have struggled in the past to make reading my Bible daily. It is easy to make excuses, but I think that God made his point to me in the last week! So now it is back to the basics. I’m leaving my old self behind and starting this over. I need this for me and my walk.

Road Signs

Have you ever driven around in town and seen the different billboards for a local company or maybe a church that has a good quote on it? I know back at home in Medford, there is a local tool company called Medford Tool that usually has some great quotes on it. It is good to see a business displaying materials like that for everyone to read. There is also a little church in Phoenix that I used to drive by on the way to my house that had some good ones.

Back to my post, I was driving back from my bowling class today, yes i take bowling for a college credit. Anyway, not the topic. Some friends and I were driving and I saw a sign on a church that read:

“Life is fragile, handle with prayer.”

I thought it was a good play on words. Instead of “handle with care” they used prayer. It is so easy in the world today to get caught up in the moment and not take time to pray. Sure each one of us prays before meals and those types of things, but what about what Paul has to say to the Thesalonians? In 1 Thesalonian5:16-18 he says

“Rejoice always;

pray without ceasing;

in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”

As I am writing this my own life is being convicted. I know how easy it is for me to push God aside and forget to pray, but I need to remember that I shoul live my life as a prayer for him. These verses are great for me and I hope that you can be encouraged and remember to live a life of prayer to that we can handle our lives as Christ would want us to handle them. Remeber what James says,

“The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective” James 5:16

Why I Got a Blog

It all started tonight when one of my “second mothers” ( I have like 4) was disrespected in one of her posts. I thought it was time to join the world of blogging and say something, because I was not going to let someone do that to her. I am praying for the person and am glad to know that my “mother” is ok.
